January Migration

By early January,the wildebeest are heading towards southern Serengeti from the Ngorongoro conservation area.As a result of the usually wet January,the normally,parched yellow plains are now a vibrant green with a carpet of yellow,mauve,blue and white flowers.The herds are pouring over the central Serengeti palins and Lake Ndutu woodlands in their thousands.This is the annual peak born of zebra calves even though one or two first shaky long-legged wildebeest calves of the season can be seen hugging close to their mother's side.The spectacle of so many wildebeest is awe inspiring,a treat to the senses,and one of lifes experience that make you just so glad to be alive.Other animals like Gazelles,zebra,are all in abundance across the plains making for an exciting time amongst predators.The migration will continue further south spilling over to Maswa Game reserve before turning back by late January to the calving ground.
